Hello guys and hello girls! How are you today? What's new?

In this lesson, we’re going to practice useful sentences from beginner to more natural levels. These are practical expressions you can use every day in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, or Palestine.

Key Structure: بدي (biddi) = I want (for “I”) You will hear Omar model the sentences slowly and encourage repetition.

 

Core Sentences & Practice

Here are the main sentences taught in the video, presented clearly with Levantine Arabic, pronunciation guide, and English translation:

 

  • I want to eat something. Levantine: بدي آكل شي . Pronunciation: Biddi aakul shi (Repeat: I want to eat any food / I want to eat and drink)

 

  • I want to go home. Levantine: بدي أروح عالبيت . Pronunciation: Biddi aruuḥ 3al-beet (Also practiced: I want to go to the house / I want to go to the theater)

 

  • I want to buy food. Levantine: بدي أشتري أكل. Pronunciation: Biddi ashtiri akil Full sentence: Today I want to buy food because I have a big party. Levantine: اليوم بدي أشتري أكل لأنو عندي حفلة كبيرة Pronunciation: Elyoom biddi ashtiri akil la’ano 3indi 7afle kbiire

 

  • I want to go to the restaurant and eat with my friends. Levantine: بدي أروح عالمطعم وآكل مع أصحابي Pronunciation: Biddi aruuḥ 3al-mat3am w aakul ma3 as7aabi

 

  • I want to see my friends. Levantine: بدي أشوف أصحابي Pronunciation: Biddi ashuf as7aabi

 

  • I want to see a movie. Levantine: بدي أشوف فيلم Pronunciation: Biddi ashuf film

 

  • I want to drink fruit juice. Levantine: بدي أشرب عصير فواكه Pronunciation: Biddi ashrab 3aṣiir fawaakeh Variations practiced:
    • I want to drink a smoothie / green smoothie
    • I want to drink vegetable juice

How to Practice (Shadowing Method)

  1. Listen to Omar say each sentence.
  2. Pause and repeat out loud 3–5 times.
  3. Try changing the sentence slightly (example: “I want to drink coffee” → بدي أشرب قهوة).
  4. Record yourself and compare with the video.

 

 


Bonus Tips from the Nassra Method

  • بدي is the most common way to say “I want” in Levantine Arabic (used in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine).
  • For “you want” (masculine): بدك (biddak) For “you want” (feminine): بدكِ (biddik)
  • Combine with verbs in the present tense for natural speech.
